The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The food quality and flavour was outstanding. The chef there cooks outstanding authentic Indian cuisine which was fabulous and so well served and presented. The rooms were spacious, immaculate and supplied everything you would require especially for self catering facilities. The facilities on the complex i.e. pool, gym are very clean and they have security 24hours. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, it is away from the beach but is quiet and peaceful. The staff are very helpful to organise taxi, rickshaw, scooters etc and advise cheapest options for you. The manager Shane is a pleasure to speak to and his staff are extremely helpful and competent.

After two days of driving through Kerala, Karnataka and finally reaching Goa, we found the way to Maria Vaz's Stain Glass Cottage in Colva. We were pleasantly surprised to see a modern building designed in a very traditional way. All the elements of a traditional Goan house were there... the tiled roof, the large well with its wall embedded with tiny blue-and-white tile pieces, and the large sit-outs. Maria Vaz was there to welcome us and after introducing us to the staff and exchanging a few pleasantries, she was on her way. Every thing about the place was spic and span - the themed rooms - named after the colours on the stain glass windows, the well maintained air conditioner, the WiFi in all rooms, and the staff who knew when to give us privacy... everything was just right...

The staff, were very friendly and helpful. They did everything so that our stay would be good. Heart warming and family-like staff. The food is homemade, affordable and good :) There is a relaxed atmosphere and a beautiful view.

I arrived at the Stainglass Cottage in Colva, Goa on 16.03.2011. It is a nice villa, located on a peaceful side-street, full of other same nice houses. My room is upstairs, it is the orange room. The room, like the whole house is maintained extremely clean, aspect which is of main importance for me while traveling. The furniture and decoration in the room are very nice, indeed even a small carpet in the bathroom and the towels were orange, as per the rooms name. Each of the 5 rooms has its own dominant color. The house feels warm and very friendly. In the very stylish arranged living room you can have your breakfast and dinner, which are very tasty and at all times freshly cooked. The garden is very nice arranged with plenty of flowers... The host, Mrs. Maria Vaz, is a very friendly and helpful lady, providing us a lot of information about Goa, its culture, its touristic hot-spots, locations and roads. The Portuguese influence in Goa is visible in almost every corner, and so is it also in this lovely Stainglass Cottage... Returning to the cottage, for the convenience of the guests there is Mr. Rosario, the driver of the house who, even if we didn't need his services as we had our own car, was very kind to explain my friend about the shortest ways to reach to some destinations. There is also some other staff for maintaining the house and for the kitchen. And congratulations to the maid in the kitchen, she did a great work, as her dishes were so tasty! Mrs. Maria Vaz, the host, is a very knowledgeable lady, who is able to tell you all kind of interesting stories about Goa's culture as well as about different aspects around the world. I appreciate very much her friendly presence and conversation. Many thanks Mrs. Maria Vaz for assuring us such a pleasant stay at your home-stay. Actually, at the Stainglass cottage one feels as being at home, as belonging to that place. It is that special feeling one can never experience in a big impersonal hotel, but only when living together with a local family. While in Goa I have visited many places like the capital Panaji, Old Goa with its Churches, but also the specific temples of Goa, which have their own and unique architectural style. Most of the temples are orange /pink colored. One of the temples I liked very much is the Mangueshi Temple and the nearby Sri Mahalsa Temple. A river cruise on the Mandovi River, offered beside a wonderful view of Panjim city, also some Goa folkloric music and dances, which are quite different from other Indian dances, as the Portuguese influence is again relevant. In Goa are some very interesting spice farms, I visited one of them, the Sahakar Spice farm, interesting explanations about different plants growing there. And of course, I didn't miss the Goa Chitra Museum, as well as visiting different beaches along the Arabian Sea. I can describe my Goa journey as wonderful and my stay at the Stain Glass as excellent. A home to return whenever I will be again in Goa.

My friends and I had an awesome time at Stain Glass, it was like a home away from home. Bonnie and Rosario helped us with every little thing we needed and were really supporting and concerned about our food and travel. T’was a beautiful homely experience, a welcome change from the impersonal commercial service we get from the big hotel chains.

My whole family had a wonderful time at this cottage. Everything is so clean and neat and the staff here is very helpful and eager to make our stay memorable. Mrs. Maria is a wonderful person and makes sure that everything is perfect. For her, I would like to come here again and again.

Wow, what a nice place to stay with wonderful staff. This place is truly a gem in India and as a traveler, guide, publisher I can't say enough about this jewel of a hotel. In Oct 2012 I spent three weeks mostly in Goa while having dental work done in Margao. Three days on my first visit, returning two other times on short notice and two additional surprise visits during my visit to India. Each and every visit proved that this was a find not to be missed. Start with the new buildings and rooms, the last construction just finishing up on the final structure. Perfect grounds, families won't find a better set-up in all of India. Away from the vendors and stores, but still just minutes from the beach and everything in Colva. Now Colva is your most Americanized location in Goa and in saying that, all of India. The beaches are both swimable and safe, something not found at many Goa beaches. Also, the Colva area has more of the upscale hotels located in the surrounding towns. Staying at Costa Del Sol was as nice as any three star hotel in Boston or San Francisco. As amenities go, Costa Del Sol had everything and everything worked well. Again, can't go wrong ever booking at Costa Del Sol, that is if you can get a room, so book soon. While looking out back at Costa Del Sol from your balcony you'll see shepherds and cows, rice planters and Asian fields of tropical trees and plants, wild boar, monkey's and an endless feast for the eyes.

I have stayed at Stain Glass Cottage twice and enjoyed the charm and ambience. Renu the cook is excellent. Bonnie and Brenda keep the place neat and tidy. I enjoyed the company of little Jason who wants to become the next “CROCODILE DUNDEE”. Our driver Rozario introduced us to fabulous eating places. Well done to all concerned.

We found a relaxing and quiet place after traveling through North India. The staff is excellent, kind and helpful. They cooked everyday a different Indian breakfast for us but there is a large choice of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had a motorbike for 5 days so we could move from one beach to another. We rent it for a cheap price. Definitely to be recommended.

We had the ultimate pleasure of dining and staying at Stain Glass Cottage. We had the feeling of being at home and treated like family. We will be most certainly coming back to our “Second Home” in the following years to come, The 6 weeks we spent in Goa were truly God given moments and passed far too quickly, but will always remain in our hearts.
